The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that they have received goaltender Jason Missiaen and defenseman Benn Olson from the American Hockey League.
Missiaen, 21, has been reassigned to the Road Warriors by the New York Rangers from the AHL’s Connecticut Whale. The rookie goaltender returns to Greenville after backing up Cameron Talbot for two games on February 18 and 19. Missiaen has appeared in more games than any other Road Warriors goalie this season, 26, and is tied for the team lead in wins with a 13-10-2 record. The 6-8, 200-pound netminder is also tied for second in the ECHL with three shutouts this season. A former fourth-round draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens, Missiaen was signed to an NHL contract by the Rangers last March.
Olson, a fourth-year pro, has been loaned to the Road Warriors by the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The 6-4, 215-pound defenseman has played 17 games with Bridgeport this season with one goal, 74 penalty minutes, and a +3 rating to his credit. Olson has also logged 11 games with the ECHL’s Alaska Aces this season. The Port McNeil, British Columbia native has played 109 ECHL games between Alaska, Cincinnati, and Florida in his career and has 13 points (1G, 12A) and 381 penalty minutes.
Missiaen is expected to be available for the Road Warriors’ game tonight at 7:05 p.m. against the Elmira Jackals. Olson, meanwhile, will join the team in Elmira, but has one game remaining on a suspension he incurred while with Alaska earlier this season.
ROAD WARRIORS, GREENVILLE HOSPITAL SYSTEM, MARY KAY TEAM UP FOR SECOND-ANNUAL “PINK IN THE RINK”
The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that the second-annual Pink in the Rink presented by Greenville Hospital System to benefit the Mary Kay Foundation will take place on Friday, March 2 at 7:35 p.m. against the South Carolina Stingrays at the BI-LO Center.
“Everyone with the Road Warriors is thrilled to partner with Greenville Hospital System and the Mary Kay Foundation for our second Pink in the Rink event. This year promises to be a special night as we all work together to raise money and awareness in the fight against breast cancer,” said Road Warriors president and general manager Neil Smith.
2012 Pink in the Rink Sweater
Highlighting this year’s Pink in the Rink presented by Greenville Hospital System is the pink ice sheet that the Road Warriors and Stingrays will play on during the game. The pink ice will have a visual impact when fans enter the arena that night, which is symbolic of the impact that the Road Warriors, Greenville Hospital System, and the Mary Kay Foundation hope this night will have on the Greenville community.
In addition to the pink ice, the Road Warriors will be wearing special pink-themed jerseys which will be auctioned off after the game with proceeds going to the Mary Kay Foundation. Fans can also bid on silent auction items, purchase raffle tickets for a pink cancer quilt, purchase chuck-a-pucks, or purchase Pink in the Rink t-shirts to aid the effort to raise money for the Mary Kay Foundation. Any group of 10 or more attending Pink in the Rink presented by Greenville Hospital System can purchase their tickets in advance and have $1 from each ticket donated to the Mary Kay Foundation. To book your group call 864-674-PUCK (7825).

About Mary Kay Foundation:
Throughout her life, Mary Kay Ash showed others how to live. And how to give. She gave hope to women who lacked opportunity and self-esteem and financial support to the causes she believed in. Although she died on Thanksgiving Day 2001, her legacy of love continues through the The Mary Kay Foundation, which she began in 1996.
The mission of the MKF is two-fold:
* We are committed to eliminating cancers affecting women by supporting top medical scientists who are searching for a cure for breast, uterine, cervical and ovarian cancers.
* We are committed to ending the epidemic of domestic violence by providing grants to women’s shelters and supporting community outreach programs.
Since the Foundation began in 1996, it has granted $25 million dollars to organizations fighting cancer and violence against women. For more information on the Mary Kay Foundation please click here.
