Turn It Around Against Cancer Movember Movement
Recently Danbury Whalers defenseman (#8) Lynn Beedle approached the Danbury Whalers Director of Fundraising Tricia Coe about a nationwide promotion called Movember.
Movember is program that started in 2003 where men grow “Mo’s” (mustaches) during the month of November to help bring awareness towards men’s health issues, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.
From that meeting the Danbury Whalers have decided to jump in on their own Movember and have coined the program Turning It Around.
Since that time Danbury Whalers players have put down the razors when they hit the upper lip and have started the mustachioed process.
The Whalers will also give fans of all ages a chance to participate as in the four remaining November home games fans will have a chance to have a blue & green mustache painted onto their face.
The final element is the Turn It Around t-shirt created by Lynn Beedle. “When I look at our logo, if you turn it around, you can see the whale tail as a mustache.” Commented Beedle. Fans will have a chance to pick up a shirt next week and get behind the cause with the team as a portion of the proceeds will be donated.

Best Moments of the Season
There are so many moments in the Danbury Whalers season where special people jump in and make things happen.
Here is some recognition for two of them.
Andy Paproski – The owner & operator of Nutmeg Cleaners spent countless hours making sure the Danbury Whalers jerseys were ready for Opening Night. While it might seem like a small task, the coordination of getting fight straps and name plates on jerseys is a time consuming effort that I can’t imagine someone would step up and volunteer for.
Part of the energy of the Danbury Whalers is how we look on the ice and if it wasn’t for Andy’s incredible effort we would have been left short.
Andy – thanks for taking the time and doing all that you do.
Elissa Hanna –
If you ever have a bookkeeping need, Elissa is the best in the business. I can’t say enough good things about the time and effort Elissa puts in for the Danbury Whalers organization.
Next time your organization has a payroll, bookkeeping, or financial issue to take care of, let Elissa take a shot at it and you won’t be disappointed.
