TOSTI: Swamp Rabbits Top Scorer Called Up to Hartford
Caleb Herbert earns promotion to Swamp Rabbits AHL affiliate after dominating start to the season.

Greenville, SC – The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (15-10-2-0), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, announced today that forward Caleb Herbert has earned his first call-up of the 2017-18 regular season. The ECHL’s leading point producer has been loaned to the Hartford Wolf Pack after earning 36 points (16G, 20A) in 23 games with the Swamp Rabbits.
Herbert, 26, is Greenville’s top point producer this season and established the club’s longest point streak in franchise history to begin the season. The Bloomington, Minnesota native earned at least one point in the first 17 games of the 2017-18 season, scoring 11 goals and adding 17 assists to begin the campaign. Herbert has also scored three goals and added two assists in the last two games. The versatile forward has posted the second most multi-point games on the team, earning more than one point in 10 games this season.
The reigning CCM / ECHL Player of the Month of November has collected a multitude of accolades this season. Herbert earned recognition as Sher-Wood Hockey / ECHL Player of the Week in November and was also selected as the AMI Graphics Plus Performer of the month, earning a +12 rating. Herbert was the fastest Swamp Rabbits player to tally 30 points in franchise history and currently leads the ECHL with a +19 rating.
The 6-foot, a 195-pound skater has played 93 career ECHL games between the Swamp Rabbits, Idaho Steelheads, and South Carolina Stingrays during his first four pro seasons. Herbert has also logged 80 AHL games in the last four seasons between the Hershey Bears and Texas Stars. The forward has tallied 10 goals and added 10 assists in the AHL.
Prior to turning pro, Herbert skated three seasons at the University of Minnesota-Duluth earning 89 points (32G, 57A) in 112 career games. He was also a fifth-round selection by the Washington Capitals in the 2010 NHL draft.

Leads ECHL in Points with Greenville
HARTFORD, December 18, 2017: Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Chris Drury announced today that the team has signed forward Caleb Herbert to a Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement.
Herbert, a fourth-year pro out of the University of Minnesota-Duluth, is the leading point-scorer in the ECHL, having chalked up 16 goals and 20 assists for 36 points, as well as 30 penalty minutes and a league-best +19, in 23 games with the Wolf Pack’s ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
The 26-year-old Herbert, a 6-0, 200-pound native of Bloomington, MN, split last season between the AHL’s Texas Stars and the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL. In 35 games with the Stars, he scored eight goals and added five assists for 13 points, and served 27 minutes in penalties. With Idaho, Herbert skated in 13 games, notching four goals and four assists for eight points, plus 27 PIM.
A fifth-round (142nd overall) pick by the Washington Capitals in the 2010 NHL Draft from Bloomington Jefferson High School, Herbert has suited up for 80 career AHL games with the Stars and the Hershey Bears and has amassed 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points, along with 47 PIM. In 93 career ECHL contests with the Swamp Rabbits, Steelheads and the South Carolina Stingrays, he has totaled 49 goals and 37 assists for 86 points, with 164 PIM.
The Wolf Pack’s next game is this Wednesday night, December 20, when they travel to Allentown, PA to take on the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
