NEW YORK, April 6, 2018 – New York Rangers General Manager Jeff Gorton announced today that the team has recalled forwards Matt Beleskey and Steven Fogarty from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Beleskey has skated in 35 AHL games this season with the Providence Bruins and Wolf Pack, registering five goals and seven assists for 12 points, along with 26 penalty minutes. He has tallied six points (one goal, five assists) in 14 games with Hartford after he was acquired by the Rangers. In addition, Beleskey has skated in 14 NHL games with the Bruins in 2017-18.
The 6-0, 203-pounder has skated in 472 career NHL games over parts of 10 seasons (2008-09 – 2017-18) with Anaheim and Boston, registering 75 goals and 82 assists for 157 points, along with 433 penalty minutes. He established a career-high with 22 goals during the 2014-15 season with the Ducks, and he established career-highs in assists (22) and points (37) with Boston in 2015-16.
The Windsor, Ontario, native was acquired by the Rangers, along with a first-round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, Ryan Lindgren, Ryan Spooner, and a seventh-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, from Boston in exchange for Rick Nash on Feb. 25, 2018. Beleskey was originally selected by Anaheim in the fourth round, 112th overall, of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
Fogarty, 24, has skated in 60 AHL games with the Wolf Pack this season, registering nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points, along with 20 penalty minutes. He has established AHL career-highs in several categories in 2017-18, including goals, shorthanded goals (two), game-winning goals (two), and shots on goal (84). Fogarty leads Hartford in shorthanded goals this season. He posted his first career multi-goal game in the AHL by tallying two goals on Oct. 29 at Hershey. In addition, he recorded a point in eight games over a span of 12 games in which he played from Nov. 24 at Bridgeport to Jan. 5 at Providence (three goals, seven assists during the stretch).
The 6-3, 209-pounder has skated in 129 career AHL games over parts of three seasons (2015-16 – 2017-18), all with the Wolf Pack, registering 16 goals and 24 assists for 40 points, along with 41 penalty minutes. He established AHL career-highs in assists (13) and points (20) as a rookie in the AHL in 2016-17. Prior to beginning his professional career, Fogarty played four seasons of collegiate hockey at the University of Notre Dame (2012-13 – 2015-16), and he served as the team’s captain in each of his final two seasons. He helped the University of Notre Dame win the CCHA Championship in 2012-13.
The Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, native was selected by the Rangers in the third round, 72nd overall, of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
