KEELEY: FOUR GAMES IN FIVE DAYS FOR THE MAINE MARINERS

BY: Michael Keeley, Maine Mariners

PORTLAND, ME: Nov. 26, 2018 – The Mariners might not want the month November to end. Their improbable comeback win on Saturday night at the Cross Insurance Arena improved their November record to 6-1-0-1, including points in all four home games – an overall home point streak that dates back to October 21st. December will be their busiest month – and also their most travel heavy. But before the calendar turns, they’ll play two more at home this week, trying to keep the good times rolling. The Reading Royals are in town Wednesday night at 7:00 before the Worcester Railers visit on Friday at 7:15.

The week that was
Saturday, Nov. 28th – MAN: 4, MNE: 6

Riley Bourbonnais’ second period Teddy Bear Toss goal was overshadowed by a stunning third-period comeback, led by the newest Mariner, Ty Ronning. Trailing 4-1 with less than 15 minutes remaining in regulation, Ronning scored three goals and assisted on two others to help engineer a furious Mariners rally. Michael McNicholas, who finished with three points for the second game in a row, got it started. Ronning then scored back to back goals, including a shorthanded tally that tied the game. Fellow newcomer Vince Pedrie would net the game-winner, with Ronning finishing the hat trick into the empty net. 1,194 stuffed animals were collected for Toys for Tots and local children’s charities.
