Rookie Forward Led Charlotte’s ECHL Club in Scoring
Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the team has signed forward Matthew Ford to a Professional Tryout agreement (PTO).
A rookie out of the University of Wisconsin, Ford led the Wolf Pack’s ECHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, in points, goals and plus/minus, with six goals and three assists for nine points and a +5, along with four penalty minutes, in five games.
Ford, a 6-1, 207-pound native of West Hills, CA, completed a four-year career as a University of Wisconsin Badger last season, with four goals and five assists for nine points, and 30 penalty minutes, in 33 games. In 124 all-time University of Wisconsin appearances, Ford totaled 21 goals and 18 assists for 39 points, along with 100 PIM. The 24-year-old was an eighth-round draft choice (256th overall) by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2004, out of Sioux Falls of the USHL.

25-year-old Swedish agitator who singed a free-agent deal with the Rangers in
mid-June and played in Hartford and Charlotte, is returning to Sweden, the team
confirmed today. He may have a deal with his former club HV71."

Congratulations to Charlotte goaltender Jeff Jakaitis who was names RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver of the Month.
Here's the release:
Jeff Jakaitis of the Charlotte Checkers is the RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver of the Month for October.
The 25 year old was 4-0-0 with a shutout, a goals-against average of
1.75 and a save percentage of .934 to help Charlotte sit atop the South
Division at 5-2-0.
He was named ECHL Goaltender of the Week
on Oct. 21 after making 35 saves, including stopping the last 20 shots
he faced, in a 3-1 win at Florida on Oct. 18. Jakaitis posted
back-to-back one-goal road wins at Mississippi on Oct. 25 and 26. He
ended the month stopping all 22 shots in a 5-0 win against Augusta in
the Checkers home opener on Oct. 31.

game Saturday, November 8th, vs. Springfield will be the first
Wolf Pack action carried on CBS Radio’s 50,000-watt AM powerhouse, WTIC
NewsTalk 1080.
The game faces off at 7:00 at the XL Center, and the pregame
show hits the air at 6:30 on WTIC NewsTalk 1080. Veteran WTIC NewsTalk 1080 sportscaster Scott
Gray will join the long-time voice of the Wolf Pack, Bob Crawford, and Wolf
Pack color commentator Mark Bailey for the broadcast, which will boom
throughout the Northeast via WTIC NewsTalk 1080’s 50,000-watt signal.
