– POWER RANGERS – The Rangers were 2-for-3 (2:59) on the power play in tonight’s contest. The Blueshirts have recorded at least one power-play goal in five of the last six games (6-for-17; 35.3%), in six of the last eight games (7-for-21; 33.3%), in seven of the last 10 games (8-for-25; 32.0%), and in nine of the last 14 contests (10-for-37; 27.0%). New York recorded two or more power play goals in a game for the ninth time this season.
– HITTING MACHINE – The Blueshirts were credited with 28 hits in tonight’s contest, as 14 of 18 skaters registered at least one hit.
– J.T. Miller registered two points (one goal, one assist), both of which were on the power play, in tonight’s contest. Miller has recorded a goal/point in four of the last eight games, tallying seven points (four goals, three assists) over the span, and he has also registered five points (two goals, three assists) in the last three contests. He ranks second on the Rangers in points this season (34; 12 goals, 22 assists), and he leads the Rangers in points on the road in 2017-18 (19; six goals, 13 assists).
– Ryan McDonagh recorded two power play assists, tied for the team-high with two blocked shots, and was credited with three hits while skating in a game-high 25:33 of ice time. The Rangers captain has tallied four points (two goals, two assists) in the last three games and eight points (two goals, six assists) in his last nine contests. McDonagh leads Rangers defensemen in assists (24) and points (26) this season, and he also ranks second on the Blueshirts in assists in 2017-18, only trailing Mats Zuccarello (30).
– Mika Zibanejad recorded a power-play goal, led the Rangers with four shots on goal, and was credited with three hits. Zibanejad tallied his seventh power-play goal of the 2017-18 season tonight, which is a career-high, and he leads the Rangers in power-play goals this season. In addition, he is tied for second on the Blueshirts in goals in 2017-18 (15). Zibanejad has registered three points (one goal, two assists) in the last four games, four points (one goal, three assists) in the last seven games, and seven points (four goals, three assists) in the last 13 contests.
– Mats Zuccarello tallied a power play assist and led all forwards in the contest with 20:30 of ice time. Zuccarello’s assist on J.T. Miller’s goal was his 300th career NHL point (94 goals, 206 assists). In addition, Zuccarello tallied his 30th assist of the 2017-18 season tonight, and he has recorded 30 or more assists in five straight seasons (2013-14 – 2017-18). He is the first Ranger who has registered 30 or more assists in at least five consecutive seasons since Brian Leetch (11 consecutive seasons from 1988-89 – 1998-99), and he is also the first Rangers forward to accomplish the feat since Mark Messier (six consecutive seasons from 1991-92 – 1996-97). Zuccarello leads the Rangers in assists (30), points (38), primary assists (20), power play assists (13), and power play points (14) this season, and he has tied his career-high in power play assists (he also registered 13 power play assists in 2013-14). He has tallied an assist/point in five of the last six games and has registered six assists over the span.
