BY: Mitch Beck, Howlings

NEW BRITAIN, CT – This was an exciting and special hockey season for the Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils. Not only did they go through a lot of adversity, and overcame it, but their excellence was acknowledged by the coaches of the other ACHA Super East Division II teams.

It was announced last week that forward, William McKinley, 19, was acknowledged as the Super East MVP for the 2018-19 season.

It was also announced that McKinley, a Freshman from Cheshire, CT was named to the All-SECHL Second Team.

McKinley and Hunter Shay, from Southbury, CT were named to the All-Rookie team. McKinley as a center and Shay received an Honorable Mention.

Additionally, goaltenders Matt Beckoff, and Adam Belair forwards Max Halberg, James Huften, Jack NobleCameron Sardinskas and McKinley, and defensemen Max Lagasse and Shay were all named to the All-Academic team for maintaining a GPA above a 3.30.

Lastly, McKinley, Assistant Captain Kevin Murphy, and CCSU Captain, Joey Campisano were all named as participants in the All-Star Challenge which gives these players the opportunity to try-out for the All-ACHA team that will travel to Europe this spring and play games over there. It’s a huge honor and well-deserved.

Congratulations to all of these boys and the rest of the team for a strong season.
