HARTFORD, CT – The Hockey East 2020-21 season is inching closer to becoming reality.
The UCONN Huskies are hoping they will be able to announce an approved and finalized conference-only schedule either later this week or early next week.
“There will be a series of conference calls that are ongoing to finalize the myriad of details and there many,” said Hockey SID Bill Peterson. “All the games will be at Freitas (Ice Forum) on campus. It’s going to be conference only and it’s going to be a flex schedule to deal with any COVID contingencies that arise as they have in football and in pro sports the past few months. Other than that, we’re in the process of finalizing many details and we hope shortly, will have some good news for Husky hockey fans.”
The team is hoping that opening night would be next Friday (11/20), but before that happens, all events need to be signed off by the Connecticut Department of Public Health. Until that happens, nothing happens.
Two of the five college hockey conferences, the Big 10, and NCHC, will start at the end of the week and are expected to announce fan participation and TV coverage schedules this week.
