HARTFORD, CT – The New York Rangers made their first cuts over the weekend.
The first player to Europe by design was center Karl Henriksson drafted in the 2nd round (59th overall) in 2019 was sent to Frölunda HC (Sweden-SHL) and is WJC eligible,
Five players were sent to juniors. Those cuts include Jayden Grubbe, who went to Red Deer (WHL) last year in the third round (65th overall), Ryder Korczak to Moose Jaw (WHL) previous year draftee also third round (75th overall), Evan Veiling, heads to Barrie (OHL) in 2020 in the third round, (127th overall). Goalies Dylan Garand goes to Kamloops (WHL) after playing two games last season in Hartford. He was drafted in 2020 in the fourth-round (103rd overall). Big Talyn Boyko heads back to Red Deer (WHL). Last season he was a draftee in the fourth round (112th overall).
The first eight players were sent to Hartford. They include five forwards, Michael O’Leary, Alex Whelan (Quinnipiac), James Sanchez, Jake Elmer, and Patrick Khordorenko.
The remaining three are defenseman Zack Berzolla, Hunter Skinner, who played last year with the Tulsa Oilers (ECHL), and Zach Giuttari.
