NEW YORK RANGERS PROSPECT REPORT: FEB. 5

  1. Ty Ronning posted a multi-point game in each of Vancouver’s three contests during the week, and he registered seven points (five goals, two assists) in the three contests. The Rangers’ seventh-round pick (201st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft has tallied 47 goals and 19 assists for 66 points in 52 WHL games in 2017-18. Ronning leads the WHL in shots on goal (266) and ranks second in the league in goals this season. In addition, he leads Vancouver in goals, points, power play goals (12) and shots on goal, and is tied for the team lead in plus/minus rating (plus-14) in 2017-18. Ronning has established WHL career-highs in goals and points this season, and he is one goal away from tying Vancouver’s single-season record (Evander Kane registered 48 goals with the Giants in the 2008-09 season).
  2. Tim Gettinger tallied two assists and posted a plus-two rating on Feb. 2 vs. Saginaw. The Rangers’ fifth-round pick (141st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft has recorded a point in seven of the last nine games (seven goals, five assists) and has registered a point in 13 of the last 17 games, tallying 20 points (11 goals, nine assists) over the span. Gettinger has recorded 52 points (28 goals, 24 assists) and a plus-20 rating with the Greyhounds this season, and he has established an OHL career-high in assists in 2017-18. He is tied for 10th in the OHL in shots on goal this season (190). Gettinger also leads Sault Ste. Marie in shots on goal is tied for the team lead in game-winning goals (seven) and ranks third in goals and points in 2017-18.
  3. Patrik Virta recorded two points (one goal, one assist) and 10 shots on goal in three games with TPS during the week. The Rangers’ seventh-round pick (207th overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft has registered 30 points (10 goals, 20 assists) in 48 games with TPS this season, and he has established Liiga career-highs in assists and points in 2017-18. He ranks third on TPS in assists and ranks fourth in points this season.

  • Alexandar Georgiev posted a 1-0-1 record, along with a 1.44 GAA and a .955 SV% (64 saves on 57 shots) in two appearances during the week. He made a single-game season-high 48 saves on Feb. 2 at Providence, and he stopped 16 of 17 shots he faced to earn a win on Feb. 3 vs. Providence. Georgiev has posted a 6-0-1 record, along with a 1.25 GAA, a .961 SV% (195 saves on 203 shots), and 2 SO over his last seven appearances. In addition, he has registered a 2.94 GAA and a .907 SV% in 29 appearances this season, and he is tied for fourth among qualified AHL rookie goaltenders in SV% in 2017-18.
  • Filip Chytil registered an assist on the game-winning goal on Feb. 3 vs. Providence. The Rangers’ first-round pick (21st overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft has tallied nine points (two goals, seven assists) in the last nine games and 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists) in 26 games with the Wolf Pack this season. Chytil is tied for the team lead in plus/minus rating (plus-four) and ranks second on Hartford in points per game (0.81) in 2017-18. The 18-year-old leads all AHL players younger than 20 years old in points in 2017-18. Chytil also ranks sixth among AHL rookies in points per game this season.
  • Lias Andersson posted a plus-two rating in Hartford’s 3-1 win against Providence on Feb. 3. The Rangers’ first-round pick (seventh overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft has registered two assists and a plus-four rating over his first five career AHL games, and he is tied with Filip Chytil for the team lead in plus/minus rating in 2017-18.
  • Vinni Lettieri tallied the game-winning goal on Feb. 3 vs. Providence, and he was recalled by the Rangers on Feb. 4. He registered a goal/point in two of his last three games prior to being recalled by the Blueshirts. Lettieri has recorded 23 points (14 goals, nine assists) in 35 AHL games this season, and he leads the Wolf Pack in goals in 2017-18. In addition, he is tied for ninth among AHL rookies in goals this season.
  • John Gilmour registered a goal during the 2018 AHL All-Star Challenge on Jan. 29. Gilmour has tallied 25 points (six goals, 19 assists) in 43 games this season, and he ranks ninth among AHL defensemen in points in 2017-18.
  • Ryan Sproul tallied a goal on Feb. 2 at Providence. He has recorded three goals/points in his last three games, as well as four goals/points in his last six contests. Sproul has recorded 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists) in 38 AHL games this season, and he is tied for 12th among AHL defensemen in goals in 2017-18.
  • Boo Nieves registered an assist on Feb. 2 at Providence to extend his assist/point streak to three games (one goal, three assists). Nieves has recorded eight points (three goals, five assists) in 14 AHL games with the Wolf Pack this season, including five points (one goal, four assists) in seven games since rejoining Hartford on Jan. 15.
  • Adam Tambellini recorded an assist on Feb. 2 at Providence to extend his point streak to four games (three goals, one assist). The Rangers’ third-round pick (65th overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft has notched a point in nine of his last 15 games (three goals, six assists over the span). 
  • Cole Schneider tallied an assist on the game-winning goal on Feb. 3 vs. Providence. He has notched 29 points (nine goals, 20 assists) in 48 games with Hartford this season, and he leads the Wolf Pack in assists and points in 2017-18. 
  • Ryan Gropp registered a goal on Feb. 3 vs. Providence. The Rangers’ second-round pick (41st overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft is tied for third on the Wolf Pack in goals this season (nine). 
  • Steven Fogarty recorded a shorthanded goal on Feb. 3 vs. Providence. The Rangers’ third-round pick (72nd overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft leads Hartford in shorthanded goals in 2017-18 (two). 

  • Morgan Barron tallied an assist on the game-winning goal on Feb. 2 vs. Union. The Rangers’ sixth-round pick (174th overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft has registered 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) and a plus-nine rating in 23 games in his freshman year with Cornell in 2017-18. Barron ranks third on Cornell in assists and is tied for fifth on the team in points this season, and he leads all freshmen on the team in both categories.
  • Sean Day registered a power play assist on Feb. 3 vs. Niagara. The Rangers’ third-round pick (81st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft has recorded 10 assists/points in the last eight games and 15 points (one goal, 14 assists) in 14 games with Kingston this season. In addition, he has registered 36 points (five goals, 31 assists) in 41 OHL games in 2017-18. He has established an OHL career-high in assists and his tied his OHL career-high in points this season. Day is tied for seventh among OHL defensemen in assists and ranks 10th among OHL defensemen in points this season.
