GREENVILLE, SC The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that defenseman Blake Parlett has been loaned to the team by the American Hockey League’s Connecticut Whale.

Parlett, a rookie from Bracebrigde, Ontario, returns to Greenville after a lengthy stay in the AHL. He was called up on February 17, 2011 and went on to play in 24 regular season games with Connecticut. He earned 12 points (2G, 10A), 17 penalty minutes, and a +1 rating over that span. Parlett was the top scoring rookie defenseman for the Whale while playing fewer games than all but three defensmen to suit up for the Whale. In the Calder Cup Playoffs, Parlett skated in all six of Connecticut’s playoff games and earned three points (1G, 2A). The Whale was eliminated in the first round by the Portland Pirates in six games.

At the time of his promotion, Parlett was leading ECHL defensemen in scoring with 32 points (7G, 25A) through 46 games. His 14 power play assists in the regular season rated second among all ECHL rookies, and his 18 power play points were tied for fifth among first year players. He finished the season 16th in defensemen scoring. Parlett was a 2011 ECHL all-star and had a game-high +4 rating as the ECHL All-Stars beat the Bakersfield Condors 9-3.

The Road Warriors take on the Wheeling Nailers in Game Six of their best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinal series Tuesday, April 26 at 7:35 p.m. at the BI-LO Center.
