Corey Fulton Signs with the Danbury Whalers
Danbury Whalers President and General Manager Herm Sorcher announced Sunday that the team has resigned Left Wing, Corey Fulton for the 2011-12 season.
Fulton, a native of Mississauga, Ontario, played in 34 games last season with 2 goals and 3 assists while leading the Federal Hockey League with 217 penalty minutes.
Fulton was voted by the Danbury Whalers’ fans as the “2010-2011 People’s Choice” as the “Most Popular Player.”
In a season filled with an abundance of big hits and many moments that brought the crowd to their feet, the 6’2 201 pounder’s 2010-11 highlight reel focuses on the week of February 20th when in three games Fulton put his season’s worth of goals, two into opponents nets on just two shots. Fulton also added one of his three assists of the season during that span and left a plus-4 on the stat-sheet. The Whalers’ defenseman also tallied 44 penalty minutes in those contests.
Fulton joined Andrew Willock as the only Danbury Whalers to register a Gordie Howe Hat trick (a goal, an assist, and a fight all in the same game) over the course of the season.
On returning to Danbury, Fulton said, “I could never have imagined that a guy from Mississauga, Ontario could find a home in Connecticut. When we win the Cup next year, I am going to lift it to the sky and then skate over to Section 102 with it.”
