ANOTHER DEFENSEMAN?

wolfpack logo Just when you think you know exactly what’s going to happen next, the Rangers organization throws you another curve ball…that based upon last night’s game three contest, the ball doesn’t hit the net either. Well, today is no different with the Pack agreeing to terms with college stand out Mitch Gaulton on an Amateur Try Out contract. The team now has more depth at the blue line than Captain Nemo’s submarine, The Nautilus.

According to a release just moments ago, the Pack signed Gaulton to an ATO. Gaulton, a 6-0, 210-pound native of St. Catharines, Ontario, joins the Wolf Pack from the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League.  Gaulton skated in 22 games for the Otters this season,gaulton-mitch-jersey after missing the first 45 games of the campaign due to injury, and scored one goal and added five assists for six points, with four penalty minutes.  In five postseason games with Erie, Gaulton was scoreless with four PIM.

A sixth-round selection (171st overall) by the parent New York Rangers in the 2008 NHL Draft, Gaulton, who turns 19 Saturday, has played 96 career games with Erie over three seasons, totaling eight goals and 21 assists for 29 points, along with 76 penalty minutes.

Jess Rubenstein will have his prospect report shortly on what Gaulton brings with him to Hartford.
