With just 12 games remaining in the regular season the Greenville Road Warriors host the Gwinnett Gladiators tonight in a showdown for first place in the Eastern Conference.
The Road Warriors (36-20-4, 76 pts.) host Gwinnett (33-17-11, 77 pts.) today for the 13th of 17 meetings between the clubs this season. Fans can follow the action by watching on America One or listening at Greenvilleroadwarriors.com. The Road Warriors are 7-4-1 against the Gladiators this season and 17-11-1 all-time in their history against Gwinnett. Tonight’s matchup features two of the hottest teams in the ECHL. The Gladiators bring a three-game winning streak into the game which includes two third-period comeback wins against the Trenton Titans. The Road Warriors, meanwhile, have won each of their last four including a pair of comeback wins of their own.
Greenville is offering its Two For Tuesday deal presented by BI-LO. To take advantage of this offer show your BI-LO BONUSCARD at the Breakaway Honda Ticket Office at the BI-LO Center to get a free ticket when you purchase another ticket of equal value.
Who: Greenville Road Warriors vs. Gwinnett Gladiators
What: Home Game #31, Season Game #61
When: 7:35 p.m.
Where: BI-LO Center, 650 N. Academy St., Greenville, SC 29601
NOTEWORTHY:
Goalie Jason Missiaen is third among rookie goalies with 18 wins on the season. He has gone 10-4-1 while starting 15 of the last 16 games dating back to February 3, 2012.
Greenville is 4-for-18 (22%) on the power play over its last five home games. It has not scored a home PPG, though, since Feb. 17 vs. Toledo (0-for-8).
The Road Warriors’ magic number to clinch a Kelly Cup Playoffs berth is 12. Any combination of the 9th place team losing standings points and the Road Warriors gaining points will shrink the number.
Greenville has the second best third period goal differential, +16, in the ECHL. Only Gwinnett, +18, is better.
Greenville, 22-9-2, and Gwinnett, 19-14-6, are the only two South Division teams with records over .500 against their divisional foes. 11 of Greenville’s final 12 games are against the South.
