Defenseman Returns From Milwaukee, Heads To Lonestar State
Charlotte Checkers general manager and head coach Derek Wilkinson announced today that defenseman Ethan Graham has been loaned to the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League immediately after being returned from Milwaukee (AHL).
Graham has two goals and nine assists for 11 points in 18 games with the Checkers this season, including a four-game point streak (1g, 3a) between Jan. 29 and Feb. 4. The 27-year-old blueliner was called up to the Norfolk Admirals earlier in the season, notching one goal and three assists in 16 games. Graham was also recently called up to Milwaukee and has other prior AHL experience with the Iowa Stars and Hartford Wolf Pack.
In 2008-09, Graham notched five goals and 20 assists in 40 games in his second season as a professional. He led all Checkers defensemen in power-play points with 14 and chipped in with two game-winning goals.
Prior to turning pro, the hard-shooting defender played four seasons at Michigan State University where he helped the Spartans capture the 2007 NCAA National Championship and was voted the team’s Most Outstanding Defenseman.
The Checkers (28-17-6) will embark on a four-game road trip before returning on Wednesday, Mar. 3. Puck drops at 7 p.m. and ticket information can be obtained by calling 704-342-4-ICE or visiting www.gocheckers.com.
