A GREAT LINE IS A GREAT LINE

As many of you know, I started my career as an entertainer at age 5 and started getting paid regularly for entertaining at age 13. One of the principles that I've always maintained, especially during my better than 20 year career in radio, was to always be an open book with the people I was serving. That principle hasn't changed.

One other thing that's always been important to me also is giving credit where credit is due.

Okay, What gives… get to the point…

Alright.

Over the past year my health has not been that great. I've had six surgical procedures done to each of my eyes. I've been told that what I have is called Epithelial Basement Membrane Dystrophy and Thygeson's Disease which I'm told creates recurrent corneal erosion.

What I can tell you is that when it's acting up it hurts a lot.

In any event, in an email conversation with Jess Rubenstein of Prospect Park, where we were discussing the situation, Jess wrote the following:

 "(I'm) sorry to hear about your bad eyes. Look at the bright side, at least you can apply to become an NHL ref…"

Mitch Beck was a standup comedian and radio personality for over 25 years. His passion for hockey started with Team USA in 1980 when they defeated the Soviets at Lake Placid. He has also worked in hockey as a coach and administrator. He also works for USA Hockey as a Coach Developer.
