In case you were curious about the status of Al Montoya, the 2004 New York Rangers first round draft pick, failed in his efforts to make the NHL this season.
Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney, the one who drafted Montoya when he was the AGM of the Rangers, announced that the Coyotes have assigned goaltender Al Montoya to the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League.
Montoya, and the second winningest goalie in Wolf Pack history, will compete in San Antonio for the starting job with Josh Tordjman.
