This Week:

The Road Warriors bring ECHL hockey back to Greenville with a pair of games this Thursday and Friday against the Everblades. Greenville will be trying to repay Florida for a pair of losses sustained at Germain Arena in the preseason. Florida trumped Greenville 6-5 and 4-2, respectively on October 8 and 9. Both teams’ lineups will look significantly different, though, now that the games actually count. Florida opened the season last weekend against the Gwinnett Gladiators and came away with a 1-1-0 record; having won the opener 3-2 in a shootout then dropping a 5-3 decision the next night. Both teams feature young rosters with 10 rookies for Greenville and eight for the Everblades.

10/24 vs. South Carolina, 4:05 p.m. – Home (0-0-0), Away (0-0-0)

The battle for supremacy in the Palmetto State begins in Greenville when the Road Warriors and Stingrays meet this upcoming Sunday. The teams played one preseason game at the BI-LO Center on October 12 and Greenville triumphed 3-2 in overtime. Andrew Carroll and Shane Harper each scored in regulation for the Road Warriors while Brendan Connolly potted the game winner in extra time. Jake Hauswirth and Trent Campbell each notched power play goals for the Stingrays in the second period. Sunday’s coaching match up has an interesting twist as Dean Stork and Cail MacLean were assistant coaches on each of the last three Kelly Cup championship teams. Stork’s Cincinnati Cyclones won titles in 2008 and 2010 while MacLean worked with the 2009 champion Stingrays.
