The Greenville Road Warriors play their fifth game of a six-game season-opening home stand tonight against the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:05 p.m. ET at the BI-LO Center.
RECAPPING THE ACTION:
10-29: GRW 4 – S.C. 1
The Road Warriors surrendered the first goal for the first time this season last night when Patrick Cullity wristed home a shot with less than one second remaining in the first period. The power plaly goal was Cullity’s first as a pro and put Greenville in an early hole. The Road Warriors dug themselves out in a big way, though, in the second period and built a lead they would not relinquish. Anton Kharin’s first as a Road Warrior came on a tip in and tied the game with four minutes gone by in the second. Next up was the defensemen doing the damage. Cullen Eddy earned his first as a pro by slamming home a loose puck at the 11:48 mark. He was followed by Julien Brouillette with a power play tally just 39 seconds later. The 3-1 lead after two was a comfortable cushion that was only made more comfortable at 16:48 of the third by Andrew Carroll’s team-leading fourth goal of the season. Greenville killed off over a minute of a Stingrays 5-on-3 power play midway through the third thanks to strong goaltending from Nic Riopel. The rookie netminder turned in 23 saves for his second win of the season.
