WHEELING, WV – The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that goalie Brian Stewart has been reassigned to the Adirondack Phantoms of the American Hockey League.
Stewart was reassigned to the Road Warriors from the Phantoms on November 19 and appeared in three games for the Road Warriors. The rookie out of Northern Michigan University is 2-1-0 with the Road Warriors with a save percentage of .918 and a goals-against average of 2.68. He heads back to the AHL having won his last two starts for the Road Warriors including a 33-save performance on November 26 at Kalamazoo. Prior to joining the Road Warriors, Stewart appeared in four games with Adirondack. With the addition of Stewart there are four former Road Warriors skating with the Phantoms: Stewart, Nic Riopel, Cullen Eddy, and Shane Harper.
Following Stewart’s reassignment to Adirondack the Road Warriors added Bryan Blawut as an emergency backup goaltender.
Additionally, the Road Warriors announced today that forward Igor Gongalsky has been loaned to the Portland Pirates of the AHL. Gongalsky was loaned to the Pirates immediately after the Road Warriors’ 6-2 win in Kalamazoo on November 26. Gongalsky was a key piece of Greenville’s offense in the win as he scored his first two goals of the season. He made his Pirates debut last night in a 6-1 loss to the Manchester Monarchs. Gongalsky was held without a point.
Mark your calendars! The Road Warriors are back on home ice to take on the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, December 2 at the BI-LO Center. It will be a Dollar Drink Thursday with select fountain drinks and draught beers on sale for just $1! There are great group seats available for your group of 10 or more. Call a Road Warriors group sales representative at 864-674-PUCK to find out how you can save on the box office price, receive preferred seating based on availability, and much more.
