CRAWFORD: WOLF PACK WEEKLY: NOVEMBER 12-18, 2018

BY: Bob Crawford, Hartford Wolf Pack

HARTFORD, CT – The Hartford Wolf Pack (5-8-1-2, 13 pts., .406) finished a run of five straight games, and nine out of 11, on the road Friday night, with a 4-3 shootout loss to the Utica Comets.  Then, in the first of five in a row and seven out of eight at home, the Wolf Pack fell to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday night, 4-1.  Ville Meskanen had his first North American professional multiple-goal game Friday, with two scores, and Tim Gettinger tallied the only Wolf Pack marker in Saturday’s game.

This week: The Wolf Pack have three home games this week, starting with the annual “Sonar’s Edu-skate” school-day game this Wednesday vs. the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.  That game faces off at 11:00 AM, and then the Utica Comets visit the XL Center for a 7:00 PM contest Saturday, on “Hockey Fights Cancer Night”.  The Wolf Pack are back on the home rink Sunday, for a 3:00 date with the Rochester Americans.

Wednesday, November 14 vs. the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (Islanders) at the XL Center, 11:00 AM

  • This is the Wolf Pack’s annual “Sonar’s Edu-skate” school-day game, presented by Aetna.  Lots of educational fun will be on tap throughout the day, and for information on bringing a school group to the Edu-Skate game, contact the Wolf Pack ticket office at (855) 762-6451.
  • The Sound Tigers (9-5-1-0, 19 pts., .633) come into the week on a five-game winning streak and have climbed to within three points of the Atlantic Division lead.  Bridgeport has scored a total of 29 goals during the five-game streak, an average of 5.8 goals-per-game.
  • The Wolf Pack’s only previous meeting with the Sound Tigers this year was a 5-4 loss October 27 at the XL Center.  The two clubs will play a total of ten games against one another in 2018-19, and the Wolf Pack were 3-6-1-0 in ten games vs. the Sound Tigers last season, 1-3-1-0 at home.
  • Bridgeport points leader Josh Ho-Sang has only one goal on the year, but his 14 assists put him only one off the AHL lead in that department.
  • This is Wolf Pack “Winning Wednesday”.  If the Wolf Pack win, fans can show their Winning Wednesday ticket at the Agera Energy Ticket Office at the XL Center and receive a free ticket to the next Wednesday Wolf Pack home game, which is next Wednesday, November 21 vs. Providence (some restrictions apply).
  • Tickets for this and all 2018-19 Wolf Pack home games are on sale now at the Agera Energy Ticket Office at the XL Center, online at hartfordwolfpack.com and by phone at (877) 522-8499.  Tickets purchased in advance for kids 12 or younger start at just $13 each, and all tickets will have a $3 day-of-game increase.

Saturday, November 17 vs. the Utica Comets (Vancouver) at the XL Center, 7:00 PM

  • This is “Stick it to Cancer Night” at the XL Center, in support of those who are battling cancer and their families. The Wolf Pack will wear special Hockey Fights Cancer-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off, with the proceeds benefiting cancer research-related charities.
  • The first 2,000 fans into this game will receive a free pop socket, presented by KeyBank.
  • In the first meeting of the year between the Wolf Pack and Comets, this past Friday in Utica, the Comets rallied from a 3-1 deficit to post a 4-3 shootout win.  The two clubs met four times last season, and the Wolf Pack won three of the four, splitting a pair of battles at the XL Center.
  • Rookies Lukas Jasek and Jonah Gadjovich scored in the final five minutes of regulation for the Comets Friday against the Wolf Pack, with Gadjovich’s first pro point tying the score at three with 1:27 on the clock.
  • After Friday night’s come-from-behind victory over the Wolf Pack, Utica dropped a 5-1 decision Saturday night to the Devils in Binghamton.  That was only the Comets’ second defeat in seven road games on the season (4-2-1-0).
  • At this and every Wolf Pack home game, fans are encouraged to come early for “Hockey Happy Hour” in the Comcast Coliseum Club.  Enjoy $2 beers and $5 appetizers from 5:00 PM until puck drop.

  • This is the first of four games on the season vs. the Americans for the Wolf Pack, who went 3-1-0-0 vs. Rochester last year and swept the two encounters between the teams in Hartford.
