GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that two of their players have been added to the ECHL All-Star Team that will play the host Bakersfield Condors at the ECHL All-Star Classic on January 26.
Joining Road Warriors head coach Dean Stork, who is a coach of the ECHL All-Stars, and team president and general manager Neil Smith, who will be the color commentator on the game broadcast, will be rookies Blake Parlett and Marc-Olivier Vallerand.
Parlett, under contract to the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League, is the top-scoring rookie defenseman in the ECHL, fourth overall, with 23 points (6G, 17A) through 34 games. He has been especially effective on the power play where he tops all ECHL defensemen with 14 points (4G, 10A). The 21 year old from Braceridge, Ontario is averaging a point per game in January with two goals and six assists in eight games.
Vallerand is in his first season of pro hockey after a four-year stint with the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He is the top sniper on the team with 15 goals through 38 games and leads the league in both shorthanded goals (4) and shorthanded points (6). Vallerand also has the top plus/minus rating on the team at +12.
Parlett fills the void left by Julien Brouillette who is with the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL, while Vallerand will play in Brendan Connolly’s stead due to an injury.
Mark your calendars! The Road Warriors are back on home ice Friday, January 21 to battle in-state rival South Carolina. Along with the Greenville Area Mary Kay Independent Sales Force, the Road Warriors will host their inaugural “Pink in the Rink” event. In an effort to raise money and awareness the Road Warriors will wear pink-themed jerseys, which will be auctioned off via a silent auction during the game. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Mary Kay Foundation. If you have a group of 10 or more call the Road Warriors at 864-674-PUCK to book your group and save off the box office price, receive preferred seating based on availability, and enjoy other great benefits.
