GREENVILLE, S.C. – Joey Haddad scored for the Greenville Swamp Rabbits to knot the game at 1-1, but the Florida Everblades hit paydirt four times in the third period to win 5-1.
After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, Florida drew first blood on the power play at 7:59 of the second period. On the rebound of a Patrick Harper shot, Alex Kile scored into an open cage for Florida’s fourth power play goal of the weekend.
On a delayed penalty later in the frame, Haddad raced up ice and evened the score for Greenville. At 16:06, Haddad broke to the net on an offensive rush and scored on rookie goaltender Devin Cooley. Matt Bradley and Curtis Leonard recorded the helpers.
In the third period, Tommy Novak, Patrick Harper, John McCaron, and Blake Winiecki all registered for the visitors. Harper’s goal was his ECHL-best fifth tally of the season in only four professional games played.
Final shots on goal tallied at 41-40 Florida. Greenville’s special teams finished 0-for-3 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill. Swamp Rabbits goaltender Jacob Ingham made 36 stops in his second professional start.
The Greenville Swamp Rabbits will return to action on Saturday, December 26 against the South Carolina Stingrays at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM. Ticket information is available online at swamprabbits.com.
