GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Greenville Swamp Rabbits announced forward Nikita Pavlychev had been assigned to their roster from the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League.
Pavlychev, 24, spent the 2020-21 season between the Orlando Solar Bears in the ECHL and the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL. In 28 games with the Solar Bears, Pavlychev totaled 11 points on five goals and six assists. While in the AHL, he appeared in eight games for the Crunch and tallied three assists.
The 6’7, 201-pound center was a seventh-round selection in 2015 by the Pittsburgh Penguins before playing a four-year collegiate career with the Penn State Nittany Lions. During his time in State College, Pavlychev amassed 70 points in 137 appearances.
INGHAM SHUTOUT IN RABBITS WIN
The Greenville Swamp Rabbits later downed the South Carolina Stingrays 2-0 behind Jacob Ingham’s 27-save shutout on Friday night at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
After a back-and-forth opening half of the first period, Max Zimmer gave Greenville the 1-0 lead at 12:32 into the period after the Stingrays turned the puck over in the defensive zone.
The Swamp Rabbits extended their lead in the second as Pavlychev scored on a back-side, one-timer to secure a power play tally and the 2-0 advantage at 4:57.
THIRD PERIOD
With a stellar third period of denying the Stingrays any momentum, Goaltender Jacob Ingham would secure a 27-save shutout to earn his third victory of the season and improve the Swamp Rabbits to a 4-6-0-0 record.
On Sunday afternoon, Greenville will remain at home to meet with the Atlanta Gladiators at 3:05 p.m. at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
