GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Charlotte Checker, AHL affiliate of the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, announced today that the club had recalled forward Max Zimmer signed Swamp Rabbits defenseman Bobby Russell to a professional tryout.
Zimmer, 24, has appeared in 21 games for Greenville this season, amassing 19 points ( 10 goals, 9 assists) and tabbing the team lead in game-winning goals with four. The Medina, MN native signed a one-way contract with the Checkers earlier this week and received his first recall despite playing for Charlotte on four separate occasions this season.
Russell, 21, returns to the AHL for the second time this season, having debuted for the Ontario Reign on December 1, 2021, recording an assist in the team’s loss to the Abbotsford Canucks. In 11 games for the Swamp Rabbits, Russell totaled four points on two goals and two assists.
