Sources in Charlotte have told HOwlings that prospect David Skokan has decided not to play this season for the Rangers ECHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers.
As reported on Howlings, Skokan had signed an AHL contract with the Wolf Pack back on July 30, 2008. However, the 19 year old center-man decided that he would rather continue his hockey career in his native Slovakia than work his way through Charlotte and Hartford.
Skokan was selected in the 7th round pick, 193rd overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers.

October 16, 2008 at 8:35 PMWhat gives? He should have stayed for an over-age year with Rimouski and gotten to play in the memorial cup. I hope he comes back? I do think the Rangers have too many of their talented prospects playing in the ECHL. I hope Tomas Zaborsky doesn’t “zip” or whatever he would do to go back to Slovakia as well.
