WOLF PACK WEEKLY:
November 3 – 9, 2008

The Wolf Pack jumped above the .500 mark last week by
winning two out of three home games, running their record to 5-4-0-1 for 11
points through 10 contests.  The Pack
posted its first overtime win Wednesday vs. Portland, 3-2, before falling to
the Worcester Sharks by a 4-2 score on Friday. 
Saturday night the Wolf Pack extended its franchise record for longest
winning streak against a single opponent to 12, as they knocked off the Albany
River Rats, 3-1.  P.A. Parenteau
registered the Wolf Pack’s first two-goal game of the season Friday and added
an assist in Saturday’s game, Matt Zaba posted his first AHL win Saturday with
25 saves against the River Rats, and Dave Urquhart scored 28 seconds into his
AHL debut in Saturday’s victory.

This week:

The Wolf Pack finish off a season-high seven-game home-stand
with back-to-back games at the XL Center, Friday and Saturday nights.  Friday’s Guida’s Family Value Night game
(7:00 faceoff) features a rematch of this past Friday’s contentious battle with
Worcester, and on Saturday night the Wolf Pack’s I-91 rivals the Springfield
Falcons pay a visit to the XL Center on Scout Night (7:00).

Friday, November 7th
vs. Worcester at the XL Center, 7:00 p.m.

     Being
a Friday-night home game, this is a “Guida’s Family Value Night” at the XL
Center.  Family Value packages start at
$39 and include three tickets, three hot dogs or pizza slices, three sodas and

     Tom
Cavanagh tallied two goals and added an assist Friday in the Sharks’ 4-2 win
over the Wolf Pack at the XL Center.  He
leads the Worcester club in points, with 3-5-8 in eight games.

     The
Sharks are 2-0-0 thus far on the season against the Wolf Pack, after the Pack
swept an eight-game season series between the two squads last year.

     Worcester
has won back-to-back games to climb to 4-4-0 on the year for eight points.

Saturday,
November 8th vs. Springfield at the XL Center, 7:00 p.m.

     This
is the Wolf Pack’s first “Scout Night” of the season, and it’s “Pinewood Derby
Night”.  The first 1,500 scouts receive a
pinewood derby car.  For information on
Scout Night tickets, call the Wolf Pack ticket office at 860-548-2000.

     The
Falcons have won two in a row and are tied with the Wolf Pack at 11 points
apiece.  Springfield’s record stands at
5-3-1 for 11 points.

     Ryan
Potulny (8-0-8 in 9 GP), Liam Reddox (4-4-8 in 9 GP) and Rob Schremp (0-8-8 in
7 GP) are tied for the Falcons’ scoring lead.

     Springfield
won the first game of the year between the two I-91 adversaries, coming back
from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Wolf Pack, 4-3, on October 11th, opening night
of the season for both clubs.  Potulny
scored two goals, including the game-winner.

     Radio
– this will be the first Wolf Pack broadcast on the 50,000-watt AM powerhouse,
WTIC NewsTalk 1080.  Bob Crawford, Mark
Bailey and WTIC NewsTalk 1080’s Scott Gray comprise the broadcast team.  The action can also be heard live in HD on

Sunday,
November 9th – Annual Wolf Pack Bowl-a-Thon, AMF Silver Lanes, East Hartford

The Wolf Pack players will be
turning their athletic skills to bowling, in the Wolf Pack Community
Foundation’s annual Bowl-a-Thon to support Special Olympics Connecticut.  There will be two sessions of bowling, the
first starting at 11:00 AM and the second at 2:00 PM, and AMF Silver Lanes is
located at 748 Silver Lane in East Hartford. 
The players will be bowling alongside teams of four bowlers, who have
raised money via pledges.  Teams must
raise a minimum of $200 in pledges to participate, and prizes, including the
use of luxury suites at a Wolf Pack home game, will be awarded to the top
fund-raising teams.  Spaces for teams are
still available.  For more information,

Monday,
November 10th – Wolf Pack “Monster Mini-Golf” Tournament and Pizza Party,
Monster Mini-Golf, Windsor Locks

In a Wolf Pack event that is
brand-new this season, the Pack will be hosting a kids mini-golf tournament and
pizza party in support of Connecticut Children’s Medical Center (CCMC).  Selected Wolf Pack players will be on hand
from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Monster Mini-Golf, an indoor, 18-hole, glow-in-the-dark
mini-golf course located at 20 Main St. in Windsor Locks.  For a $10 registration donation that goes to
CCMC, kids 16 or younger can enjoy all the fun of the Monster Mini-Golf
experience with the Wolf Pack, and chow down on some delicious pizza as
well.  Participants must register in
advance to take part, and to do so, call Danielle Nardi in the Wolf Pack office
at (860) 246-7825.

Mitch Beck

Mitch Beck was a standup comedian and radio personality for over 25 years. His passion for hockey started with Team USA in 1980 when they defeated the Soviets at Lake Placid. He has also worked in hockey as a coach and administrator. He also works for USA Hockey as a Coach Developer. Mitch has been reporting on the New York Rangers, and exclusively on the Hartford Wolf Pack since 2005.
