Ex-Pack defenseman Dave Liffiton told Howlings Monday night that he has signed a Professional Try-Out contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Jackets have also signed Liffiton to an AHL deal with the Syracuse Crunch. Once in upstate New York, the 6’3” 210 pounder from Windsor, Ontario will join another ex-Pack in forward Brock McBride.
Liffiton told Howlings, “I’m very excited about this opportunity. (Blue Jackets head coach Ken) Hitchcock really likes physical defenseman so I think that I have a good chance to get to the NHL.” The 24-year old added, “I really enjoyed my time in Hartford and the friends that I made there. I’m looking forward to coming back there soon.”
