The Wolf Pack ended up on the losing end of their 2009-10 season opener, their only game of this past week, Saturday night in Binghamton, falling to the Senators by a score of 5-3. Corey Locke, in his first game in a Wolf Pack uniform, scored two of the Pack’s three goals in the contest, and Bobby Sanguinetti, who set a Wolf Pack rookie record for assists by a defenseman last season with 36, had a pair of helpers.
This week:
After a light opening week, the Wolf Pack face the challenge of three Atlantic-Division games in three days this coming weekend, including their home opener this Saturday, October 10 against Springfield (7:00 faceoff). That is “Everyone’s a Kid” night, with tickets just $10 each, there will be a pregame block party outside the XL Center on Trumbull St., and all fans will receive a free Wolf Pack magnetic schedule from Click It Or Ticket. That game is sandwiched in between a pair of visits to Providence, Friday night at 7:05 and Sunday afternoon at 4:05.
Friday, October 9 at Providence (Dunkin’ Donuts Center Providence), 7:05 PM
· The Bruins’ first game of the new season was yesterday at home, and they handed Springfield a 6-2 defeat in that outing. Last year, Head Coach Rob Murray’s club finished five points behind the first-place Wolf Pack in the Atlantic Division, with a record of 43-29-2-6 for 94 points.
· Brad Marchand and Jeff LoVecchio scored two goals apiece for Providence in yesterday’s win, and defenseman Andy Wozniewski had a goal and two assists.
· This is the first of ten games between the two divisional rivals this year, and the first of five Wolf Pack visits to Rhode Island. Last season the Pack went 4-3-1-0 vs. the P-Bruins and 1-2-1-0 in four games in Providence.

Saturday, October 10 vs. Springfield at the XL Center, 7:00 PM
· This is the Wolf Pack’s home opener, the first of 40 regular-season Wolf Pack home games at the XL Center. Once again this season, the home opener is “Everyone’s a Kid” night, featuring tickets at just $10 each.
· All fans at this game will receive a free Wolf Pack magnetic schedule, courtesy of Click It Or Ticket.
· The home opener will be preceded by a free family block party, outside the XL Center on Trumbull St.. The block party starts at 5:00 PM and features live music, inflatables and all kinds of other fun for all ages.
· This is the 123rd all-time meeting between the Wolf Pack and Falcons, the Pack’s most familiar rival, and the first of 10 cross-border clashes this season. The Wolf Pack were 8-1-0-1 against Springfield last year and are 74(W)-32(L)-6(T)-7(OTL)-3(SOL) in their history vs. the Falcons.
· The Falcons are off to a 1-1-0 start in this, their third season of affiliation with the Edmonton Oilers. That includes a 5-2 opening-night win over Portland at home on Saturday and a 6-2 loss at Providence yesterday. Last season Springfield brought up the rear in the Atlantic Division, with a 24-44-8-4 record for 60 points.
· Winger Chris Minard (2-1-3) and defenseman Taylor Chorney (1-2-3) have been the offensive pacesetters for Head Coach Rob Daum’s club through the first two games.

· Providence tied for the second-most home wins in the AHL last season, with a mark of 27-12-0-1.

Monday, October 12 – Wolf Pack Team Golf Outing – Hop Meadow Country Club, 10:00 AM
Wolf Pack players and coaches will be hitting the links at Hop Meadow Country Club, 85 Firetown Rd. in Simsbury, CT, starting at 10:00 AM, for a Hartford Wolf Pack Community Foundation golf outing. Spaces are still available to play in the event with the Wolf Pack.
