Andrew Carroll has earned a second shot with the Hartford Wolf Pack. It also means that Dale Weise will likely be missing at least a couple more games from a cut over his eye that he suffered in the first period of last Saturday night’s game in Norfolk. Carroll has been playing exceptionally well in Charlotte and also has perhaps the best attitude about being in the game of any player there is. He didn’t score in the two games he played in Hartford but he did get seven penalty minutes.
Here’s the official release from Charlotte:

Checkers Leading Goal Scorer Loaned To AHL’s Wolf Pack
Charlotte Checkers general manager and head coach Derek Wilkinson announced today that Andrew Carroll has been loaned to the American Hockey League’s Hartford Wolf Pack.
Carroll, 24, leads all Checkers and ranks fourth among ECHL rookies with 21 goals, including five game-winners and two shootout-winners. In 40 games this season, the native of Shoreview, Minn. has 33 points, including a career-high four-point game against Gwinnett on Jan. 18.
A fan favorite who is not afraid to mix it up, Carroll ranks fourth among all ECHL rookies with 10 fighting majors and has compiled 82 penalty minutes.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound winger earned a call-up to the Wolf Pack in December where he played two games, registering seven penalty minutes.
Prior to his rookie season, Carroll played four seasons at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and was named team captain during his sophomore campaign.
In a separate transaction, the Checkers have claimed defenseman Ryan Crane off waivers from the Reading Royals. In five games in Reading, Crane notched one goal and one assist along with six penalty minutes.
The veteran of eight seasons has 13 goals, 49 assists and 197 penalty minutes in 154 career ECHL games.
Charlotte (27-15-6) will travel to Gwinnett this weekend for two important games before returning home to host the Toledo Walleye on Thursday for the ‘Midnight Game’. Puck drops at 11:59 p.m. and ticket information can be obtained by calling 704-342-4-ICE or visiting www.gocheckers.com
