Defenseman Earns Second AHL Call-Up This Season
Charlotte Checkers general manager and head coach Derek Wilkinson announced today that defenseman Ethan Graham has been loaned to the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.
Graham has two goals and nine assists for 11 points in 18 games this season, including a four-game point streak (1g, 3a) between Jan. 29 and Feb. 4. The 27-year-old blueliner was called up to the Norfolk Admirals earlier in the season, notching one goal and three assists in 16 games. Graham has other prior AHL experience with the Iowa Stars and Hartford Wolf Pack.
In 2008-09, Graham notched five goals and 20 assists in 40 games in his second season as a professional. He led all Checkers defensemen in power-play points with 14 and chipped in with two game-winning goals.
Prior to turning pro, the hard-shooting defender played four years at Michigan State University where he helped the Spartans capture the 2007 NCAA National Championship and was voted the team’s most outstanding defenseman.
Charlotte (27-15-6) will travel to Gwinnett this weekend for two important games before returning home to host the Toledo Walleye on Thursday for the ‘Midnight Game’. Puck drops at 11:59 p.m. and ticket information can be obtained by calling 704-342-4-ICE or visiting www.gocheckers.com
