LAWSON RE-ASSIGNED TO CHECKERS FROM FLORIDA
Rookie defenseman earns second call-up of season
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte Checkers general manager and head coach Jeff Daniels announced today that rookie defenseman Kyle Lawson has been re-assigned to the team by the Carolina Hurricanes from the Florida Everblades.
It is the second call up for Lawson, who played in two games for the Checkers earlier this season.
Lawson, 23, has skated in 18 games with the Everblades this season picking up four assists and eight penalty minutes. The Michigan native is in his first full professional season and made his pro debut with the Albany River Rats (AHL) last season, where he tallied one assist in 10 games.
Prior to turning professional, Lawson spent four years at the University of Notre Dame, where he had 90 points in 161 games over four years.
The Checkers (15-9-4) will embark on a five-game road trip beginning Friday in Providence and will return home Saturday, Jan. 1 to host the Binghamton Senators (7 p.m.) for the winter hat giveaway.
