The Road Warriors play host to South Carolina for the first time since October 30 to kick off a three-game series against their Palmetto State rival. The Stingrays enter the game on a five-game winning streak while the Road Warriors have won four of their last five. In the most recent meeting between the clubs, Greenville netted a 2-0 win over South Carolina in the North Charleston Coliseum on December 4. The last two games between Greenville and South Carolina have been tightly played and the winning team won by two goals in each contest. For the season, the average winning margin when the Road Warriors and Stingrays play is 2.4. The three games Greenville and South Carolina play this week are just one fewer than the total number of times the teams play in January and February combined.
1/2 vs. Wheeling, 4:05 p.m. – Home (2-0-0), Away (2-0-0)
The Road Warriors will welcome 2011 with their final home game against the Wheeling Nailers. Greenville has owned the season series between the teams and has outscored Wheeling 17-8 in its four wins. Most recently, the Road Warriors defeated the Nailers 2-0 on November 28 in the finale of their four-game northern road trip over Thanksgiving. That loss dropped Wheeling’s record to an even.500, but the Nailers have bounced back in a big way since. They enter the week in first place in the North Division with a record of 16-12-0 and a 7-3-0 mark in their last 10 games. Sunday’s game will be Greenville’s final home game of the season against Wheeling, and they will finish the season series on February 27 in Wheeling.
