One of two things set up the release of Jason Williams from his Professional Try-Out (PTO) contract Friday night.
Scenario One: The Whale management were not pleased with the 30 year old forward’s play which included 9 points (4g, 4a) and 10 PIM in 17 games and his ghastly minus-13 and released him for it.
Scenario Two: Jim Schoenfeld became aware that an NHL team wanted to sign the former Stanley Cup winner and valiantly got out of his way so that he could sign an NHL deal.
Well, when it became news today that Williams had agreed to a two-way deal for the remainder of the season with the Dallas Stars it seemed like the latter was more the case than the former.
Williams was very good to deal with in Hartford and Howlings wishes him continued success in the NHL.
