AWARDS, AWARDS, AWARDS!

AHL LogoThe AHL released the dates that it will announce the winners of it’s post season awards. We participated this season in casting our choices for the first time and it was quite an honor.

Here’s the official release from the AHL with the dates and corresponding awards.

The American Hockey League has determined the following schedule for the announcement of 2010-11 AHL awards:

Wed., Mar. 30 – 2010-11 AHL All-Rookie Team
Thurs., Mar. 31 – 2010-11 AHL First and Second All-Star Teams Fri., Apr. 1 – Fred T. Hunt Award (sportsmanship, determination, dedication)
Mon., Apr. 4 – Aldege “Baz” Bastien Award (outstanding goaltender)
Tue., Apr. 5 – Eddie Shore Award (outstanding defenseman)
Wed., Apr. 6 – Louis A.R. Pieri Award (outstanding coach)
Wed., Apr. 6 – Yanick Dupré Memorial Award (AHL Man of the Year)
Thurs., Apr. 7 – Dudley “Red” Garrett Award (outstanding rookie)
Fri., Apr. 8 – Les Cunningham Award (most valuable player)

In addition, the winners of the John B. Sollenberger Trophy (leading scorer), the Willie Marshall Award (leading goal-scorer) and the Harry “Hap” Holmes Award (outstanding team goaltending) will be announced following the conclusion of the 2010-11 regular season on Sun., Apr. 10.

The winners of the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy (regular-season points champion) and the regular-season division and regular-season conference championship trophies will be announced upon their clinching.

Mitch Beck

Mitch Beck was a standup comedian and radio personality for over 25 years. His passion for hockey started with Team USA in 1980 when they defeated the Soviets at Lake Placid. He has also worked in hockey as a coach and administrator. He also works for USA Hockey as a Coach Developer. Mitch has been reporting on the New York Rangers, and exclusively on the Hartford Wolf Pack since 2005.
