GREENVILLE MOMENT NUMBER EIGHT

Greenville Road WarriorsGREENVILLE, SC The Greenville Road Warriors unveiled today moment number eight in their countdown of the top 10 moments from their inaugural season in the ECHL. The countdown will continue next week with moment number seven.

On Friday, April 15 the Road Warriors hosted the Wheeling Nailers in Game Two of their Eastern Conference semifinal series. Greenville needed a win to even the series at one game each before the scene shifted to Wheeling for the next three games of the best-of-seven series. Shane Harper put the Road Warriors up 1-0 with a late first period goal and 13 saves by Nic Riopel through two periods had Greenville ahead going into the third period. Wheeling’s Tim Crowder quickly wiped the advantage away with his first goal of the playoffs 42 seconds into the third. With neither team able to score again in regulation, overtime was needed to decide the winner.
It turned out to be the Road Warriors’ leading scorer from the regular season, Jimmy Kilpatrick, who provided the exciting finish to Game Two.

Season tickets for the 2011-12 season are on sale now. Fans can reserve their seats with a $100 deposit by May 31, 2011 and receive a $50 credit at the Road Warriors’ team store. Mitch Beck was a standup comedian and radio personality for over 25 years. His passion for hockey started with Team USA in 1980 when they defeated the Soviets at Lake Placid. He has also worked in hockey as a coach and administrator. He also works for USA Hockey as a Coach Developer. Mitch has been reporting on the New York Rangers, and exclusively on the Hartford Wolf Pack since 2005.
