Pucky, the iconic mascot of the Connecticut Whale appeared Tuesday afternoon at the Bolton Ice Palace in Bolton, CT to take part in assisting with the Connecticut Whale Community Foundation to make the lives of some area children just a bit better.
Smiles abounded as the charitable arm of the Connecticut Whale donated grant funding for skating sessions for their fourth straight summer to the Channel 3 Kids Camp, the only camp in the state that provides affordable, year-round camping experiences for all families.
Each year more than 4,000 children from nearly 100 towns and cities attend the Channel 3 Kids Camp. Campers experience a care-free refuge for healthy play, the outdoors and making new friends, with programs that promote confidence and independence. Programs are designed to offer maximum support encouraging children to make lasting friendships, develop leadership skills, and prepare youth for a successful life beyond camp.
While most hockey teams make a big effort to give back to the community for their support and because it’s the right thing to do, the Connecticut Whale have made their charitable giving an integral part of their very existence and go above and beyond the type of commitment that is usually made by a sports franchise.
Congratulations on yet another well done effort by Howard Baldwin and the entire franchise.
