SEASON’S GREETINGS IN GREENVILLE

GREENVILLE, SC The Greenville Road Warriors open their exhibition slate tonight against their in-state rival South Carolina Stingrays.

The Road Warriors‘ preseason schedule features a home-and-home series against South Carolina that begins tonight in Greenville and wraps up tomorrow night in North Charleston. There are 26 players remaining in Greenville’s camp who are competing for spots on the opening-night roster. When they break camp the Road Warriors can carry 20 players on their active roster with three IR spots also available.

When: 7:35 p.m.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • At 6-8, Jason Missiaen is the tallest goaltender in North American professional hockey
  • Brett Robinson is the seventh former Cincinnati Cyclone to play for the Road Warriors under former Cyclones assistant coach, and current Road Warriors head coach, Dean Stork.
  • The Road Warriors were 9-8-0 against South Carolina last season, including 5-3-0 on home ice.
  • Greenville defeated South Carolina at the BI-LO Center 3-2 in overtime of their preseason game last year. Brendan Connolly scored the winning goal at 3:08 of the extra session.

Mark your calendars! The Road Warriors open the season at the BI-LO Center on October 14 at 7:35 p.m. against the Wheeling Nailers. He has also worked in hockey as a coach and administrator. He also works for USA Hockey as a Coach Developer. Mitch has been reporting on the New York Rangers, and exclusively on the Hartford Wolf Pack since 2005.
