Team Notes:
-The Rangers were defeated by the Edmonton Oilers, 2-0, tonight at Rexall Place, and are now 2-1-0 on their current four-game Western Canada road trip. New York is 2-2-2 (6 pts) on the season.
-The Blueshirts out-hit the Oilers, 29-16, in the contest, led by Kris Newbury’s game-high, five hits.
Player Notes:
–Dan Girardi led all skaters with 27:01 of ice time, and was credited with two hits and two blocked shots in the contest.
–Ryan McDonagh was credited with a team-high, three blocked shots and registered two hits in 23:46 of ice time.
–Henrik Lundqvist stopped 22 of 24 shots before leaving the contest at 8:25 of the third period.
–Martin Biron turned aside all three shots faced in 9:42 while making his first appearance of the season.
-Kris Newbury led all skaters with five hits, and logged 10:28 of ice time in the contest.
-Brendan Bell registered two shots on goal in 11:26 of ice time while making his Rangers debut. Bell signed with the Rangers as a free agent on Aug. 9.
