VALLERAND AND PROUGH PROMOTED

The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that forwards Marc-Olivier Vallerand and Jeff Prough have been called up to the American Hockey League.

Vallerand has been called up by the Rockford IceHogs which puts Vallerand on his third different team in the last week. The second-year forward from Longueil, Quebec was signed to a professional tryout by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on February 26 and went on to skate in his first two AHL games with the Sound Tigers. He was released from the PTO by Bridgeport and re-joined the Road Warriors for their 2-1 win in Cincinnati on February 28. Following the game he was signed to a PTO by Rockford which is the AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks. Vallerand leads the Road Warriors in goals, 27, and is third on the team in points with 50.

Prough has made his second trip up to join the Connecticut Whale after being recalled from his loan to Greenville. The 5-9, 180-pound winger recorded one goal in five games with Connecticut on his first trip that lasted from December 16 to December 31, 2011. Prough was recalled by Connecticut on February 27 and skated in the Whale’s 2-1 shootout win over Worcester on February 28. The fourth-year pro out of Brown University is currently fourth on the Road Warriors with 47 points (18G, 29A).
