PORTLAND, ME – October 29, 2018 – The Montreal Canadiens recalled Mariners forwards Antoine Waked and Michael Pezzetta to Montreal’s AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket on Sunday.

Waked has posted one goal and three assists in seven games for the Mariners this season. The speedy forward spent all of 2017-18 with Laval, where he scored 7 goals with 11 assists in 63 games. He signed a three-year contract with Montreal out of the QMJHL in April 2017.

Pezzetta, a 2016 draft pick of the Canadiens, joined the Mariners last Tuesday on a rehab assignment and appeared in all three subsequent games. He was the captain of the Sudbury Wolves of the OHL last season, before being traded to the Sarnia Sting midseason. Between the two teams, Pezzetta scored 23 goals and added 19 assists in 62 games. He signed an entry-level contract with the Canadiens in March of this year.

While the Mariners are the ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers, players under contract with an NHL or AHL organization are permitted to play on any ECHL roster. Currently, the Mariners roster players under contract with the Rangers (Dawson Leedahl, Brandon Halverson, Chris Nell) and Buffalo Sabres (Brycen Martin), in addition to the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack (Drew Melanson and Jason Salvaggio) and Laval Rocket (Ryan Culkin and Morgan Adams-Moisan).

The Mariners host the Reading Royals this Friday at the Cross Insurance Arena at 7:30 PM. The Mariners are members of the ECHL: the premier AA hockey league in the United States and a proud affiliate of the New York Rangers.
