GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers, have acquired defensemen Josh Burnside from the Allen Americans in exchange for future considerations.

Burnside, 26, joins the Swamp Rabbits after appearing in 15 games for the Americans this season and totaling three assists in those contests.

The Brampton, Ontario native is in the midst of his first professional season after a four-year career at Carleton University in Canada. Before his collegiate campaign, Burnside captained the Mississauga Steelheads in the Ontario Hockey League.

Burnside will join his new team as the Swamp Rabbits travel to the state of Florida to take on the Jacksonville Icemen on Friday night before traveling to Duluth, GA, to face-off with the Atlanta Gladiators ahead of the teams’ meeting in Greenville on Sunday afternoon.
