BISON JUMP INTO THIRD PLACE
By: Eric Konwinski, Bloomington Bison
Greenville, S.C. – Dryden McKay earned his fourth shutout of the season and the Bloomington Bison defeated the Greenville Swamp Rabbits 4-0 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena Sunday afternoon to jump into third place in the Central Divison.
Bloomington charged into the game with a net-front drive by Shane Ott less than a minute in but the puck jumped over the net. Moments later, the Swamp Rabbits countered and McKay denied pressure. The home squad then rang a shot off the crossbar eight minutes in before the Bison took control of the game. Mark Kaleinikovas gave Bloomington a 1-0 lead from Nikita Sedov and Chongmin Lee at 12:18. Three minutes later, Ott doubled the lead from Kaleinikovas and Lee. Before the end of the stanza, the Bison were assessed an interference penalty and for the second-straight time going back to Saturday’s game, Bloomington completed the kill without allowing a shot to eventually take its 2-0 lead into intermission.
Lou-Felix Denis and Sedov were stopped on quality chances early in the second period, but Denis would make good on another opportunity to make it 3-0 at 6:16. Just over a minute later, Deni Goure continued the onslaught and potted a goal from Ilya Tsulygin to make it 4-0 on just the 8th Bison shot of the game. Greenville made a goaltending change, and the Bison earned a powerplay shortly after but could not score. Bloomington took its 4-0 lead into the third off the heels of a 10-6 shot advantage in the second.
The Bison began the final frame with extended zone time and the line of Kaleinikovas, Ott and Lee nearly added another goal. After a zone keep in by Brenden Datema allowed pressure to mount further, play headed down ice and McKay stopped a slapshot blast. With five minutes left, Bloomington’s backstop pounced on a loose puck off a scramble to settle play down. Another crease crash by Greenville resulted in offsetting roughing calls and another athletic save by McKay. Parker Lindauer and Goure were stopped from capitalizing on a cross-ice feed while on the 4-on-4 sequence, and the Swamp Rabbits kept play in offensive ice in the remaining minutes but could not best McKay, who finished the game with 16 saves. His fourth of the season propelled him past Yaniv Perets for the most shutouts by a Bison in team history and secured two standings points for Bloomington. The Bison jumped two teams with the win and are now in third place in the division with three games remaining.

TSULYGIN, McKAY SECURE SHOOTOUT WIN
By: Eric Konwinski, Bloomington Bison
Greenville, S.C. – Ilya Tsulygin scored in the sixth round of the shootout and Dryden McKay was perfect in the skills competition to propel the Bloomington Bison to a 3-2 win over the Greenville Swamp Rabbits at Bon Secours Wellness Arena on Saturday evening.
The Bison came out feeling pressure from the home squad and McKay was tasked with a one-timer blocker save less than two minutes in. Bloomington remained hemmed into their own zone and the Swamp Rabbits took a 1-0 lead off a trickle puck at 4:03. Countering on the response shift, the Bison were stymied on a net-front drive. Lou-Felix Denis drew a penalty at 8:51 to bring up prime offensive chances for the visitors, who managed three shots on the powerplay but remained scoreless. McKay made a breakaway save in the final minute, and the Bison took to intermission down on the scoreboard and locked in an 11-11 shot tie.
Bloomington came out with intensity to begin the second period and Nikita Sedov tied the game just 55 seconds into the frame. Chongmin Lee and Parker Lindauer circled the zone before the latter found Sedov alone in the slot for the 1-1 goal. Deni Goure won the ensuing faceoff at center ice to Datema, who skated it deep along the nearside boards. The Bison defenseman found Lindauer on a seam pass through the slot and the visitors took a 2-1 lead merely 11 seconds after getting their first tally. Bloomington earned a powerplay chance at 4:23 but could not capitalize. McKay stood tall on a shorthanded bid, and before too long his squad was nabbed with a penalty of its own. After the successful kill, Datema drew attention from the Swamp Rabbits off the heels of an open-ice hip check and nearly helped to make it a two-goal lead for Bloomington later on the shift. Goure was stonewalled on a blue line blast from Datema on the close call. McKay came up with more big saves down the stretch, including a save-of-the-year-esque glove snag in the final four minutes. Cullen Ferguson stepped up at the blue line and was sent to the penalty box with 57 seconds remaining, and Bloomington’s penalty kill held the Swamp Rabbits without a shot before the horn.
After the rest of the penalty time expired, both teams fell into an evenly matched set. Nearly six minutes into the final regulation frame, Shane Ott got a one-timed chance from Brad Morrison, but the Swamp Rabbits netminder was ready for the save. Greenville responded moments later off of a slot giveaway and once again, McKay stood strong between the pipes. The Bison were sent back to the penalty box with eight minutes left on the clock and did not allow a shot. The Swamp Rabbits pulled their netminder at 18:38 and tied the game 10 seconds later to force overtime. Bloomington outshot Greenville 4-2 in the extra frame, but a shootout would determine the outcome.
McKay saved six attempts from the Swamp Rabbits before Tsulygin potted the game-winning shot to secure two standings points for the Bison, who jumped into fifth place in the Central Division, just one behind the final playoff spot.

BISON EARN HISTORIC WIN OVER SWAMP RABBITS
By: Eric Konwinski, Bloomington Bison
Greenville, S.C. – Eight skaters recorded multi-point games and Grant Porter tallied five assists to help the Bloomington Bison score eight goals for the first time in team history in a 8-5 win over the Greenville Swamp Rabbits at Bon Secours Wellness Arena on Thursday evening.
Bloomington drew a powerplay in the opening moments of the game and capitalized on the advantage at 2:07. Shane Ott dished a pass to Riku Ishida at the near circle, and Ishida let a shot go that created a rebound. Chongmin Lee potted the loose puck in front to give the road team a 1-0 lead, but Greenville answered promptly. Just 32 seconds later, the Swamp Rabbits tied the game. The Bison did not fall into a defensive structure but rather exploded for four-straight goals before the end of the stanza. Parker Gavlas blasted in a shot from the blue line at 5:33 and regained the lead. Bloomington added three more goals in the following six and a half minutes. Deni Goure continued the onslaught with his fifth tally in his 13th game as a Bison off a rush from Porter and Brenden Datema before Datema notched a goal of his own to chase Greenville’s starting goaltender from the net. Sullivan Mack potted the 5-1 goal with five minutes and three seconds on the clock to cement a record five-goal period for Bloomington. Datema drew a roughing penalty in the final minute, but his squad would not score on the chance. The Bison took their four-goal advantage into the second period with a slight 9-8 shot advantage.
Porter rocketed a bid wide of the net for Bloomington’s best look on the powerplay, which allowed the Rabbits to survive, but the Bison pressure continued. Twenty-four ticks after another powerplay expired, Lou-Felix Denis scored to give his squad a 6-1 lead at 8:24. At 11:20, the Swamp Rabbits cashed in on a powerplay of their own before Nikita Sedov matched it a minute later. Greenville managed to bring up a 7-3 score in the final five minutes of the frame, but the Bison charged into the third with a four-goal lead and dug in to secure victory.
Bloomington earned a fourth powerplay chance to begin the final 20 minutes but Greenville stymied their momentum and scored at 5:00. Kylor Wall denied a rush chance near the middle mark and Dryden McKay was tasked with his best save of the game about a minute later on a cross-zone feed. The visitors were assessed a tripping penalty with 5:40 on the clock, and the Rabbits scored to creep into a then-two-goal-game soon after. Physicality mounted in the remaining minutes and an extra-attacker joined the zone for Greenville. Mack lit the lamp behind the empty net for his second goal of the game in the final 60 seconds and cemented the historic win for Bloomington. Porter notched an assist on the goal to mark his fifth of the game- the most points by a Bison in a single game. The five-goal first period was also a team record for goals in one frame.
Bloomington kept pace in the Central Division playoff race and sits one point behind Cincinnati, Kalamazoo and Indy, who are in a three-way tie for the final two spots in the division.

JACKSON SCORES IN LOSS TO KALAMAZOO
By: Eric Konwinski, Bloomington Bison
Bloomington, Ill. – Kyle Jackson scored his seventeenth goal of the season to mark his team’s only goal as the Bloomington Bison fell 3-1 to the Kalamazoo Wings at Grossinger Motors Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The Bison started aggressive and racked up four of the first five shots in the game. Dryden McKay continued his strong play, making multiple stick saves and controlling rebounds. Jackson broke the ice just under seven minutes in. Chongmin Lee forced a turnover in the offensive zone before Parker Lindauer set up a give-and-go pass to Jackson, who buried the shot off the post. Kalamazoo countered less than a minute later. McKay stopped a late Wings surge, and kept the game knotted 1-1 heading to the middle stanza.
Bloomington’s penalty kill remained strong, coming off of a perfect night on Friday, and killed off an early shorthanded sequence. The Wings jumped ahead at the 9:12 mark and scored again exactly two minutes later to take a 3-1 lead. Bloomington generated energy on its two powerplay chances but were unable to score. The physicality picked up as offsetting roughing penalties were called and the Bison looked to swing back momentum but were not able to turn the tide. With under 50 seconds left in the frame, Bloomington was assessed a minor penalty and was tasked with a carryover kill.
The Bison completed their kill before taking control in the final frame to eventually outshoot the Wings 9-2. Momentum continued when Bloomington earned its third powerplay chance. Following the conclusion of the man-advantage, Lou-Felix Denis drove hard to the net and looked to jam the puck in, but was denied on the goal line. The Bison got an extra attacker on the ice and peppered the net but were unable to strike.

FAREMOUTH SECURES OVERTIME VICTORY
By: Eric Konwinski, Bloomington Bison
Toledo, Ohio – Dryden McKay made 35 saves and Zach Faremouth lit the lamp to secure a 4-3 overtime win for the Bloomington Bison over the Toledo Walleye at Huntington Center on Saturday evening.
The Bison jumped ahead 1-0 just 3:10 into the game when Deni Goure netted his third goal in nine games since being assigned to Bloomington by the Chicago Wolves. Goure potted a rebound from Grant Porter and Sullivan Mack after the trio rushed up ice from their own zone and got the game’s first goal. Kylor Wall doubled the visitors’ lead at 12:40 from Mack and Goure with his second point in as many games as a Bison. Less than a minute later, Seung Jae Lee drew a high-sticking penalty and Bloomington scored 17 seconds into its first powerplay. Ayden MacDonald tipped in a shot from Goure to give his team a 3-0 lead and chase the Walleye netminder from his crease after allowing three goals on six shots. McKay stopped all 13 shots he faced in the opening period and Toledo’s relief goaltender faced three shots off the bench to begin his night and bring up the second period. Goure’s three-point period tied Kyle Jackson’s season-record of three points in a period, which was set on Opening Night, on October 18, 2025.
Bloomington surrendered its first goal against less than two minutes into the middle stanza on a truncated penalty kill and would be on its heels for much of the second 20-minute set. The Bison lead was shaved down to one goal with 80 seconds left, and the Walleye enjoyed a 17-6 shot advantage through the period. Despite being doubled up 30-15 in the shot column through 40 minutes, Bloomington brought its 3-2 lead into the third.
Another early goal against resulted in a 3-3 game. The home team scored 79 seconds into the final regulation frame, but Bloomington would not slink away from offensive chances. Near the halfway mark, Lou-Felix Denis and Lee created space in the offensive zone to try for one-timer opportunities but the Walleye netminder was ready. Goure and Porter were then stopped in the final three and a half minutes as the Bison pressured for a regulation win. Ultimately, Bloomington required overtime, and Faremouth slammed in a cross-ice pass from Nikita Sedov at 3:40 of the extra frame to earn two standings points for Bloomington. Sedov increased his point streak to five games with the assist to match Ott’s five-game streak, which was extended in the first.
Faremouth and Goure played most of their seasons with the Greensboro Gargoyles until joining the Bison on March 8, 2026. Since then, Goure has recorded 13 points (3g-10a) in nine games, and Faremouth has added 3 points (1g-2a) in eight games while becoming an essential part of the penalty kill and an important option for faceoffs.
With the win, Bloomington remained one point ahead of the Kalamazoo Wings in the final playoffs spot in the ECHL’s Central Division with nine games remaining in the 2025-26 season.

BISON EARN POINT IN COMEBACK
By: Eric Konwinski, Bloomington Bison
Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Bloomington Bison erased a two-goal deficit in the third period but ultimately fell 4-3 in a shootout to the Fort Wayne Komets at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Friday evening.
Bloomington fell behind early and allowed a powerplay goal just over three minutes into the game but began to push back after recording just one of the game’s first seven shots. The Bison outchanced the Komets after surrendering the 1-0 goal, and Brandon Yeamans was denied on an initial high-slot shot and seconds later, his own rebound. Eventually, Mikhail Abramov evened the score, recording his eighth goal of the season at 17:19. Nikita Sedov and Shane Ott assisted on the tally, which started with a 2-on-1 rush between Abramov and Lou-Felix Denis. Ninety-five seconds into the middle frame, Bloomington allowed another go-ahead goal off a net-front deflection. The Bison peppered Fort Wayne’s net and saw two powerplay chances come and go without success. Less than 40 ticks into the second man-advantage of the period, Bloomington was assessed a minor penalty of its own, and on the other side of 4-on-4 play the Komets cashed in with a second powerplay goal to go up 3-1 at 15:23. Moments later, Kylor Wall dropped the gloves. Hugo Ollas remained poised and made five-straight saves in the final two minutes to keep his team in the game before the horn sounded to complete 40 minutes of play.
Yeamans aided in his team’s increased intensity when he got into a fight at 3:39 of the third. Fifty seconds later, Riku Ishida got into his first fight of the season, and five seconds after that, Deni Goure pulled Bloomington within one goal of tying the game from Wall. Abramov and Ott set up Seung Jae Lee to tie the game 3-3 at 5:19, less than 50 seconds after the second Bison goal. By: Eric Konwinski, Bloomington Bison
Bloomington, Ill. – The Bloomington Bison scored seven unanswered goals and Parker Lindauer lit the lamp in his debut when the team secured a 7-2 comeback win over the Iowa Heartlanders at Grossinger Motors Arena on Saturday evening.
The Bison generated early scoring chances before being sent to a penalty kill under three minutes in. Lou-Felix Denis intercepted a pass shorthanded and hit the post on a breakaway. Moments later, Nikita Sedov followed suit and Iowa stormed to the offensive zone to strike first on the powerplay. Bloomington delivered a strong response and recorded the next seven shots but was held off the score sheet. Parker Gavlas energized the crowd by dropping the gloves for a fight before Bloomington earned its first man-advantage. The home team hit a third post and headed to the second in a 1-0 deficit.
The Bison were denied on a quality chance under a minute in and pressured from the puck drop, but Iowa doubled its lead on the sequence. Ayden MacDonald finally broke the ice for Bloomington when he tapped in a rebound on the powerplay from Deni Goure and Shane Ott. Goure later stole a puck in the neutral zone to set up a Riku Ishida snipe from the high slot, which tied the game at 11:17. Eddie Matsushima netted the eventual-game-winning goal after pickpocketing the Heartlanders goaltender for an unassisted tally at 12:12.

TUNG STOPS 29 IN CINCINNATI
By: Eric Konwinski, Bloomington Bison
Cincinnati, Ohio – Callum Tung made 29 saves and Eddie Matsushima scored his 17th goal of the season but the Bloomington Bison fell 2-1 to the Cincinnati Cyclones at the Heritage Bank Center on Wednesday evening.
Momentum teetered early and Brad Morrison outskated Cincinnati’s defense for a lane toward the net but was stopped less than three minutes into the game. On an ensuing shift, Tung was tasked with denying a point-blank blast and succeeded, aggressively coming to the top of his crease to erase the Cyclones hope. The home squad upped its intensity, and Bloomington went to the penalty box for a holding minor. With just over 30 seconds left in the penalty kill, the Bison fell behind 1-0 at 5:48 of the first frame. Pace slowed, with both teams tightening up neutral zone play, but the Cyclones broke through to double their score at 11:04 after racing down the ice for a breakaway tally. The Bison surged late, nearly evening up first-period shots by the intermission, but Sullivan Mack was turned aside on a breakaway with one minute remaining and Nikita Sedov was stymied from the slot on the same sequence.
Tung further-emerged as a difference-maker in the beginning stages of the middle stanza as he battled through extended Cincinnati pressure and five-straight shots on goal. Ayden MacDonald nearly brought his team to within one goal but found the same treatment at the other end of the ice. Alone in front of the Cyclones net, MacDonald pulled a pass to his forehand and was stopped point-blank. Bloomington gained momentum from the goaltending success in their own end, however, and moments after the attempt, drew a penalty for the first Bison powerplay. Before taking advantage of the full two minutes, a penalty to Matsushima cut it short. Bloomington’s captain lit the lamp soon after returning to the ice by tipping in a shot from Ivan Chukarov at 12:36. In addition to securing the goal, Bloomington flourished to a 12-7 shot advantage in the second but would still head into the final period trailing on the scoreboard.
The Bison surrendered 14 of the first 15 shots of the period through about 12 minutes, and Tung stopped them all to keep the score tight. Bloomington put an extra attacker on the ice with just under two minutes on the clock but would not scratch the back of the net.
