LOGANO TO HEADLINE AUTOTRADER.COM RACE NIGHT JAN. 14
Jersey auction, ticket proceeds to benefit Bennett family
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sprint Cup driver Joey Logano will once again headline the Charlotte Checkers’ fifth annual AutoTrader.com “Race Night” on Friday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. when the team hosts the Manchester Monarchs.
As in years past, the Checkers will wear specialty “Race Night” jerseys that will be auctioned off live after the game. A portion of the proceeds from the jersey auction and ticket sales will benefit the Bennett family from Albany, N.Y. as they plan to relocate to Charlotte for better medical care for their son, Zach.
Joining Logano will be executive director of the NASCAR Hall of Fame and longtime member of the Motor Racing Network (MRN) radio broadcasting team, Winston Kelley, and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Joey Coulter for an evening of race-themed activities and demonstrations sure to entertain hockey and racing fans alike.
“This game provides a great opportunity to meet racing stars while taking in an evening of action-packed hockey,” said Checkers COO Tera Black. “This year’s event will have special meaning to us as we help the Bennett family move to Charlotte to get better care for their son Zach, the biggest Checkers fan of them all.”
Logano, the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year, has strong ties to hockey and works closely with the USA Hockey Foundation and the US Paralympic sled hockey team.
“I’m thrilled to support the Checkers at ‘Race Night’ once again,” remarked Logano. “I grew up playing hockey and enjoy seeing some of the same fans I see at race tracks at Checkers games. It will be a great time.”
Coulter added: “I am really excited about the continuation of my relationship with the Checkers. To be an integral part of their ‘Race Night’ promotion is a great honor and it will be a lot of fun for everyone in attendance.”
Coulter Motorsports will also have its Rockingham Checkers race car on display and urge all Checkers fans to stop by, take a picture and get an autograph.
Also on the bill for the night are Nationwide Series driver Brian Scott, ARCA Series driver Tim George Jr. and Truck Series driver Nick Hoffman as well as SPEED TV personalities Larry McReynolds and Ray Dunlap.
Fans are encouraged to arrive at Time Warner Cable Arena by 6 p.m. as Logano, Coulter and the other drivers will conduct a 45-minute autograph session in the main concourse. In addition, the first 8,000 fans through the door will receive a Bojangles’ Mystery Card worth up to $100.
