Greenville Road Warriors

ESTERO, FL The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that they have added two players to their roster and that they have promoted one to the American Hockey League.

Greenville has signed defenseman Grant Farrell who began the season with the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays. A second-year professional, Farrell is listed at 6-1, 205 pounds and has a right handed shot. He earned three assists with South Carolina, one against Greenville on October 29, before being placed on waivers in early December. He then signed with Rapid City of the Central Hockey League and went on to post six points (3G, 3A) in 15 games with the Rush. Last season, as a rookie, Farrell led South Carolina defensemen with 17 assists in 42 games. He played college hockey for two seasons each at UMass-Lowell and Merrimack and totaled 32 points (6G, 26A) in 95 games.

Also joining the Road Warriors is forward Dustin Gazley. The 5-6, 165-pound rookie just finished his senior season at Michigan State and has signed an Amateur Tryout (ATO) with the Road Warriors. He is coming off of a career season with the Spartans in which he earned 26 points (11G, 15A) in 38 games and finished fourth on the team in points. For his career, Gazley notched 73 points (30G, 43A) and 135 penalty minutes in 153 games with the Spartans. Prior to his college career, Gazley was an all-star with the United States Hockey League‘s Sioux City Musketeers and had 88 points (45G, 43A) over 105 games with Sioux City. He had been teammates with Road Warriors Andrew Rowe and Matt Schepke in the junior and college ranks.

Additionally, the Road Warriors have loaned Schepke to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL. Schepke made his Bridgeport debut last night but did not register a point in the Sound Tigers’ 4-3 shootout loss in Providence. It was Schepke’s third career AHL game after call-ups to Hartford in the 2008-09 season and Albany last season. Schepke recently returned to the Road Warriors’ lineup after missing 51 games with an upper-body injury sustained at Gwinnett on November 6. The 26 year old from Warren, Michigan had three points (1G, 2A) in three games for the Road Warriors last weekend and currently has seven points (3G, 4A) for the season.
