For the second consecutive year the XL Center will host a double header hockey event. On March 14th the US National Amputee Hockey Team will be challenged by the Connecticut State Police in the first game at 4pm to be followed on the ice by the Hartford Wolf Pack challenging their in-state rivals, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7pm.
Danielle Nardi, the Community Relations Manager for the XL Center and the Hartford Wolf Pack, told Howlings, “I’m very excited about this event. The US National Amputee Hockey Team is a great group of guys and we’re thrilled to be hosting this exhibition game for them. Last year they played the NYPD hockey team and this year the amputee team’s coach, Bret Chernik, and I have arranged for them to play a team from the Connecticut State Police.”
The purpose of the game is to help support the US National team while in pursuit of paralympic status. Nardi adds, “Until the team reaches (paralympic status), they have to cover all their own costs for equipment, and travel, so we’re hosting this game not only to create awareness of the team and sport, but also to help them raise some money to go to the World Championships.”
Doors open at 3:30pm and the game will start at 4pm.
