The Wolf Pack today announced that they have signed Ryan Garlock to an AHL deal. Garlock has been a pro for three seasons splitting his time last season between the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL and the ECHL’s Johnstown Chiefs. The 6-0, 202-pound Garlock appeared in 35 games with Syracuse and notched four goals and added one assist for five points and took 19 minutes worth in penalties. Down in the land of the Hansons, Garlock played in 16 games and scored 10 goals and chipped in eight assists for 18 points, while serving 24 minutes in penalties and registering a +5.
Garlock, 23, tied for the Johnstown team lead in goals in 2007-08, and finished third on the club in points and assists, with 26 goals and 25 assists for 61 points in 51 games. He also logged AHL action totaling 14 games that year with three teams, Binghamton, Springfield and Hershey. Garlock spent his rookie year entirely in the AHL with San Antonio, posting three goals and nine assists for 12 points, along with 42 penalty minutes, in 71 games.
The Iroquois Falls, Ontario native was originally a second-round draft pick (45th overall) by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2004 out of the Ontario Hockey League, Garlock has played in a total of 120 AHL games in his career, with seven goals, 13 assists and 20 points to his credit. In 67 career ECHL contests, he has racked up 36 goals and 43 assists for 79 points.
This signing would appear to be more of a depth move than anything else. Garlock will most likely be Charlotte bound and get some time with Hartford as the need arises.
