Howlings was told that Ashley Antosh, a former member of the Wolf Pack cheerleading squad, has Thyroid Cancer. Ashley is a 23 year old, beautiful young woman both inside and out. By a country mile, she is one of the funniest and sweetest people we have ever had the privilege to know.
If you don’t mind my getting a bit personal here, Ashley ALWAYS greeted my two sons, and okay me too, and made us feel like she was at the then Hartford Civic Center, just waiting for us to arrive at the game. I was in show business for a LONG time…more years than I care to remember or bore you with, and I can tell you that ability is a gift that not too many people have. Not the greeting part, but that she would make you feel that joy was sincere and coming right from her heart.
Over a couple of seasons, we got to know Ashley and a couple of her teammates, Stephanie Milo and Mallory Araujo, and found them all to be fine young women. We saw first hand apart from her responsibilities to the Wolf Pack organization, and we can tell you unabashedly that Ashley is a fighter and will beat this thing. We have no doubts whatsoever that in this battle against cancer, she will give it her all and give cancer one hell of a gigantic ass kicking.
Ashley has already had to have her thyroid removed and will soon be having another surgery to remove the lymph nodes in the surrounding tissue. After she recovers from that surgery she will have to endure radiation treatments to eradicate whatever remnants of the disease would still dare to show themselves in her body.
Ashley and the other girls are regular readers at Howlings and I can tell you that she is probably embarrassed that I would have shared this with you all. But to that I would tell her that she is FAR too precious of a person not to hear how people that she might not even know but who’s lives she might have touched and to give them the chance to tell you just how special you are to all of us.
If you would, PLEASE take a moment and fill up the comments section of this report with your best wishes for a speedy recovery. If you have positive stories to let her know how much you care, please do so.
Speaking for my entire family Ashley, our hearts are with you in this all the way. Get well soon!!!

It’s certainly a blessing for one to be born beautiful, but to be a beautiful person like Mitch explains you to be… Truly makes you a blessing to everyone who is lucky enough to know you. I wish you the best of luck with your illness and I very much hope you get well soon.

I want to send my best wishes and prayers out to you. My brother-in-law is battling thyroid cancer as well. He is keeping a positive outlook and I am sure that will go a long way in helping him beat it. Please keep your outlook positive and know there are many people out there who are behind you every step of the way.

October 21, 2009 at 10:03 PMDearest Ashley, (and to Mitch Beck, the author of the original post)
Boy, did he hit it on the head. He spoke as if he has known you your entire life, Ashley. But it’s not suprising to know that everyone you meet can see the beautiful soul that is you. The genuine affection and caring that you have for people in general is a great gift, a gift that you’ve been given and one you give to others.
And once again, Mr. Beck is right – you are incredibly strong. You come from a long line of strong women – your Mom, God knows, your Grandma! and even Grandma Forte -raising 12 kids alone after Grandpa died so young…And those wonderful women have your back as you go through this journey and as you heal.
You are loved by many, Ashley… and it is well deserved.
Cousin Patty

Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly…
sometimes there are no unclear reasons why things happen to us,knowing you (personally) i can simply say that maybe god knew how beautiful and strong of a girl you are in the hopes that you can be this wonderful inspiration to all of those struggling in health..he couldnt have picked a better person with more dignity and grace then you. i have called upon all the angels in my prayers to come down to you and hold you with their wings gently and softy if you are feeling lost or losing your strength…
your in my heart now..& forever…keep your beautiful spirit & smile that i was lucky enough to have seen and known.
