The Wolf Pack are having their annual “Tip-a-Player” dinner and sports carnival coming up on January 31st. We’ve taken part in it ourselves for several years and it’s a great time to be with the things that matter most to you, family, friends and the Hartford Wolf Pack. It’s a magnificent time to get to know the players that you watch give you their souls on the ice night-in and night-out. You also get to sample some terrific food and the kids have a blast in the carnival. If you’re within driving distance it’s a great thing to do, not just from a persoonal satisfaction point of view, but it’s also a terrific chance to help support the Pack’s efforts to give back to the community.

Event at XL Center Supports Gaylord Specialty Healthcare     HARTFORD, January 19, 2010:  The Hartford Wolf Pack’s annual “Tip-a-Player” Dinner and Sports Carnival will take place Sunday, January 31, from 4:00-7:00 PM, at the XL Center.  Proceeds from the event benefit Gaylord Specialty Healthcare.

The Tip-a-Player evening features the Wolf Pack players acting as “waiters”, serving great food, donated by top Hartford-area restaurants, to those in attendance.  The players will also be competing for tips in “puck bucks” by using their various talents to entertain the guests, and by responding to assorted dares and challenges.

The host/emcee for the event is Fox 61 Morning News personality Jeff Valin, himself a hockey aficionado, and a connoisseur of all things fun and entertaining.

Excitement for all ages can also be found in the sports carnival, which takes over the XL Center’s Exhibition Hall area and offers numerous games, inflatables and other hockey-themed diversions.

Mitch Beck

Mitch Beck was a standup comedian and radio personality for over 25 years. His passion for hockey started with Team USA in 1980 when they defeated the Soviets at Lake Placid. He has also worked in hockey as a coach and administrator. He also works for USA Hockey as a Coach Developer. Mitch has been reporting on the New York Rangers, and exclusively on the Hartford Wolf Pack since 2005.
